One of very few exceptional Power Metal bands to come out of Texas...SPITTIN JONAH was formed in the spring of 1997 when, through an advertisement on a referral board at a local music store..Billy Hagan Blax (bass and vocal) met Matt Eaton (guitar). Billy had worked briefly in another project with Mike Rich (drums) and thought he would fit in nicely.
The first jamm (31 May 1997) was an instant success. Soon it became obvious to them all that Billy doing both vocals and bass was limiting his creativity. Billy says "We set out an advertisement for a bassist who was much the style of Steve Harris..and that's exactly what we got wasn't it? ha-ha". Enter James Young..a Geezer Butler/Steve Harris inspired bassist who is an Iron Maiden FREAK! I think he's even got 'Eddie' pajamas and Bruce Dickinson bed linens..ha-ha-ha-ha. After a year of live shows..James began to have problems with the tendons in his wrists..so upon completion of recording sessions for the LOUDER THAN HELL CD..he decided to take some time off and rest. With James on holiday for who knew how long...an old friend of Matt's..Billy Pixley..was asked to fill in for live shows until James could heal up and return. A year or so later..the band took a 'much needed' break for many months during late 2001/early 2002. Two years after his temporary departure, James has now returned.
