The Ripper
Originally from Odessa,Texas; Billy Hagan Blax has been singing as long as he can remember. An accomplished bass player of many years, he stepped into the lead vocal role in 1995. His style is the product of a wide variety of vocal influences from almost every genre of commercial and underground music. He claims a long list of singers, singer/songwriters, and other musicians as personal and professional influences; Among vocalists are Ronnie James Dio, Bob Seger, James Hetfield, and Steven Tyler. Other singers who have influenced Billy in some way are David Clayton-Thomas, Percy Sledge, Eric Burdon, and Ray Gillian. Some personal influences include Jesus of Nazareth (the Christ), Glenn Kaiser, Johnny Cash, and a host of wonderful people that you will never hear of. Billy feels very strongly that he has been prepared from birth to front Spittin Jonah, and that his lyrics are divinely inspired and directed. Billy also plays 12-string guitar and various percussive instruments.
